Region 9 New England Affiliates established the Yankee Conference as a regional educational opportunity in 1962. By 1969, with the Conference well established, the Board of Directors had the vision to establish scholarship funds for each affiliates use to promote advancement amongst its membership. The by-laws now mandate that 40% of profit generated from hosting the conference be dedicated to the scholarship fund.
